Data Recording and Playback

Want to be confident that your data is secure? Need a data archiving solution that is cost effective and reliable? NetAcquire Data Recorder  is a high-capacity portable signal recording option for any NetAcquire system that includes integrated playback capability. The NetAcquire Data Recorder acquires serial, analog, and digital data signals at selectable speeds, and stores the data on an internal high-capacity solid-state disk or hard disk. Depending on acquisition speed, the system supports continuous gap-free signal recording from days to years.

In addition to high-speed, high-reliability data recording, many advanced recording capabilities are supported. NetAcquire Data Recorder supports an unlimited number of simultaneous recording operations and each recorder can be individually started, stopped, and paused. "Meta-data" ( information about the recording itself) is automatically stored with each recording, including arbitrary user-specified information (i.e., recording name, description of test, setup parameters, etc.).

In addition to a raw binary recording format, IRIG 106-03 Chapter 10 recording format is supported to produce standards-compliant, vendor-neutral recording data files.

Network or Standalone Operation

NetAcquire Data Recorder operates as a network peripheral or as a standalone device. When the NetAcquire is connected to an Ethernet network, the archived data files are available to any computer on the network using FTP (File Transfer Protocol). When the NetAcquire is operated standalone, all that is required is a line power connection.

NetAcquire Data Recorder includes an integrated Web server, allowing remote system configuration and monitoring from any Web browser. For example, the amount of free disk space can be remotely monitored.

Storage Management

An unlimited number of simultaneous recording operations may be active, each with individually configurable storage thresholds. When a recording data set exceeds a storage threshold, older data is automatically removed from the system and the more recent data is kept.

An integrated Recording Manager allows online interactive management of all stored recordings.

Data Playback and Analysis

NetAcquire Data Recorder supports standalone signal playback from recorded data files. Flexible interactive controls allow start, stop, pause, and random-access of recordings. Auto-restart at end-of-data is supported.

During playback, multiple data channels are automatically kept in time alignment with each other and optionally synchronized to an external IRIG time reference.

User friendly post-recording data file analysis and charting is available in Windows environments with the optional DASYLab package.

Auto Recording FTP

NetAcquire Auto Recording FTP™ software is also included for storing very large data sets – Auto Recording FTP runs on the NetAcquire system and continuously transfers recording data files to a customer-supplied central file server. This supports very large disk capacities and hierarchical storage management into the terabyte range. Once Auto Recording FTP confirms a successful file transfer, the associated data file is automatically removed from the internal NetAcquire hard disk to avoid disk overflow.

Time Stamping

NetAcquire Data Recorder includes data time-stamping. Data time-stamping is available from the internal NetAcquire hardware clock, an external network time server, or an optional GPS or IRIG time source.

Power Failure Protection and Unattended Operation

Power failure protection ensures that acquired data is written to the disk immediately and that the onboard disk file system is kept in a consistent state if power is lost.

In addition, selectable auto-start on power-up of either record or playback is available for unattended operation.

Expansion Options

Expansion options for NetAcquire Data Recorder include expansion to 256 analog channels and 64 serial channels. Archive disk capacity can be increased to 120 gigabytes. A RAID disk storage option is available for high-reliability environments, as well as a DLT tape auto-changer option that supports up to 240 gigabytes with 24 hour x 7 day continuous tape management.
